Signs You Need a New Roof
When it comes to protecting your home and the loved ones living in it, your roof is essential. However, it’s also hard to tell when your roof needs to be replaced because it’s designed to withstand a lot of abuse from exterior forces! If you’re not sure if your roof needs to be replaced, here are some signs to look out for!
YOUR ROOF IS 10 OR MORE YEARS OLD
It’s important to remember that even though roofs are meant to last, everything has a lifespan. While different factors are important to consider when it comes to your roof, a good rule of thumb is to get your roof inspected if it’s older than 10 years, which is an average lifespan for most roofs. Roofs take a lot of use and can suffer from wear and tear a lot faster than other parts of your home because it’s the first line of defense against weather and the outside elements.
YOU HAVE BALD SPOTS, CRACKED OR CURLED SHINGLES
One of the best ways to tell if you need a new roof is if your current roof has visible damage. This much damage generally will mean that your roof has sustained structural damage as well as superficial damage. When this is the case, repairs are either not enough to keep your home safe, or they are just delaying a roof replacement that would better protect your home in the long run!
YOUR NEIGHBORS ARE GETTING NEW ROOFS
If you live in a neighborhood setting, a good way to tell if you need a new roof is to look around! Most neighborhoods are built in short periods of time, so the houses around you will have similar exterior needs as yours does. If more than one of your neighbors are having new roofs put in, call Tycos to see if you need a new roof, too!
