What can you expect during a roof installation?
Roofing services can be big projects and can often lead to a big headache, too. But it doesn’t have to be! Far too often, people embark on a roofing project without knowing what to expect. A new roof or a roof repair is something that people typically have to worry about only a time or two in their whole lives (if they hire quality roofing contractors, that is). With all that said, here is a quick step-by-step guide through your first roofing installation or repair project and tips on how you can set your expectations.
Stage 1. Shopping
Before you even get the ball rolling on your new roofing installation project, you need to have a plan of action. This is the point where you explore your possibilities and set goals for what you want. We at Tyco's Roofing and Siding have put together a ton of information to help you through this stage.
Essentially, you’ll be starting to think about what type of roof you want (from typical roofing shingles to metal roofs), roofing shingles (if that’s what you want), metal roofs, color options based on your chosen materials, etc. Once you’ve looked through those pages and thought about your goals for the project, it’s time to move on to the next stage.
Stage 2. Setting up an estimate
Now the details of the project are going to start to take shape. We’ll send out a qualified representative to work out all the details with you, the homeowner. At Tyco's Roofing and Siding, this is a free estimate, of course. Remember, during this meeting, you should be as clear and upfront as possible about what you want, and our representative will help you sift through what’s possible, what’s necessary, and what’s realistic for your roof installation project. At the end of the meeting, we will price everything out for you.
Stage 3. Preparing for the start date
This is an important stage, especially for homeowners. At Tyco's Roofing and Siding, we’ve completed hundreds of roofing installation projects to perfection and are excellent at what we do. As a homeowner or first-time roof buyer, you should be carefully preparing for the project on your own end. This means allowing space on the property for a dumpster (taking off your old roof will obviously generate a lot of waste), keeping track of pets, and thinking about any preferences you may have with regards to material storage and the like. Remember, a roof installation can be a messy job and could last from a day to a couple of weeks.
Stage 4. During the project
All of our crews are manned by well-trained roofing contractors. With that said, it’s a messy job. Our guys will have to pull off all of the old material before putting the new roof on. We’ll have designated areas around your property where we’ll keep the debris until we’re ready to discard it, and you won’t have to worry about landscaping, shrubbery, or gardens being disturbed — all of that will be protected.
Please remember to keep your pets inside during this process! There will inevitably be a stray nail or two around the property that can be stepped on or chewed by a pet. Not to mention, there will be some falling debris that you don’t want them getting caught under. Rest assured, the end of all of our roofing installation services includes a full magnetic sweep of the yard to pick up even the tiniest metal fragments. Our guys are so good that after they’re gone your yard will be cleaner than it’s ever been!
Stage 5. Marvel at your new roof!
By this point, the project is finished! Your home will have a great-looking new roof ready to protect you and your family for years to come. Sit back, relax, and pat yourself on the back for being patient and following all the correct steps. Your roof is done and it’s time to marvel at the quality craftsmanship we put behind every project!
